Senator Biazon not only criticized GMA for being out of town but also for getting the carrier Ronal Reagan.

It’s unbelievable to listen to the former Joint Chief of the Philippine military to the worldwide media state his criticism.

It is good we have Senator Gordon being around Subic who understood the hierarchy of the carrier battle group. The admiral of the Reagan yields the power to request all the naval resources for the mission being the tactical commander on scene for the US Navy.

In this case, the mission is search & rescue and even salvages operations.

Hope that the speed of telecommunication is understood and harness by all the people in government.

Not only video conferencing as pointed out by Mr. Duque.

So get the GDMSS to work and minimize loss of life at sea. The government should work in solving our speed problem so we will be able to overcome a lot of the problems that beset our country.

You and your Amigos y Amigas are invited to a goat-together starring Billy Goat, Team Diaz mascot one of these days to celebrate Manny Pacquiao’s stunning, mind-numbing KO win at the Mandalay Hotel.

Topping the list is your Pareng Jess, Jun, Gonz & my buddy Ging Cardinoza.

Pangasinenses and Dagupenos must not only reveal their high moral standards by their daily life activities, but by recognizing the great deeds of people they sincerely remember and deeply honor.

When are we going to really show our high moral standards?

Not a rough ride

Van S. de Leon
29 June 2008

To Ed Pontaoe,

It will never be a rough ride on the newly named Ermin Garcia Memorial Highway. If all forum posters like you will be united solidly, that Dagupan City council which neglected its own very son and hero (Ermin Garcia Sr.) will bend down to its toe to sponsor that resolution badly overdue to honor Ermin Garcia Sr. My humble contribution of 100 dollars to fund the naming of Dawel-Pantal Highway into Ermin Garcia Memorial Highway is also ready.

Dear Forum Posters,

We need your financial support to fund this Ermin Garcia Memorial Highway Movement. Let us be together folks. We will not be here in this Sunday Punch Forum if it were not of Ermin Garcia Sr. There is no Sunday Punch Forum where fellow Pangasinense, like you and me, express their ideas and opinion fondly and brutally frank to the core were it not of a great fellow Pangasinense and a hero, Ermin Garcia Sr. (not EG, please, when posting).

Ed, I emailed you but your server did not accept it. Please fix it.

Need PUNCH’s involvement

Ed Pontaoe
27 June 2008

Agreed!

I have in my hands an envelope . . . stamped . . . and the postman breathing down my neck.

But, to where and whom, Van?

The Sunday Punch must get involved. We cannot do the heavy lifting alone without the participation of Ermin Garcia, Jr. especially since most of us reside in this other side of the globe.

Let me be unambiguous. It would be a very rough ride.

(Admin’s Note: Editor sent you email but it was returned by the server. Pls. email us your new email address. Thank you.)

Let’s do it ourselves!

Van S. de Leon
26 June 2008

Ed, Jeremias, etc.

This is Van. I am ready to send my 100 dollars to raise fund for naming the Dawel -Pantal Highway as Ermin Garcia Memorial Highway.

Ed, do not abbreviate Ermin Garcia Memorial Highway when posting here. It maybe cute but posters and forum readers will never know what “EGMH” is.

Sunday Punch, better to post the full word Ermin Garcia Memorial Highway rather than EGMH and also better not to abbreviate Ermin Garcia as EG.

Forum posters, don’t this abbreviation. We can facilitate conveyance if ideas if we avoid abbreviations.

I am so proud of the recent columnist’s articles and news report of Sunday Punch because there are quoted statements in our Pangasinan language.

I read a news report Times Journal-a Los Angeles area Filipino Tabloid-that mentioned the word “Pangalatok” in his news report in reference to people of Pangasinan. This is a sign of ignorance of that news reporter.

PEOPLE FROM PANGASINAN ARE CALLED PANGASINENSE—–NOT PANGALATOK. PANGALATOK IS derogatory word and insulting to Pangasinense. PANAGALATOK means Pangasinense ‘sira toktok’.

I will call that Times Journal tabloid here in Los Angeles soon to correct them. I don’t think the Sunday Punch staff members would like to get involve in this Ermin Garcia Memorial Highway Movement.

Ed & Jeremias and other forum posters, let us organize ourselves and start the ball rolling.

Two weeks ago Dagupan City celebrated the chartering of Dagupan as a city and forgot to honor a Dagupeno and Pangasinense hero-Ermin Garcia Sr. who was shot to death in exposing corruptions in his Sunday Punch news paper.

Last week the Dagupan City passed a resolution adopting, Pocholo Malilin as honorary son of Dagupan City. Vice-Mayor Belen Fernandez personally handed the plaque to the honoree.

However, the Pangasinense Hero, Ermin Garcia Sr., a son of Dagupan City, have not been honored by the Dagupan City council.

Dear Vice -Mayor Belen Fernandez, there is this hero and a son of Dagupan City shot to death 40 years ago because of his love of his fellowmen that has not been honored yet. Why not honor him now? It is overdue. If you can adopt a son, why can’t you honor a SON of Dagupan City, Ermin Garcia Sr., by sponsoring a resolution naming the Dawel-Pantal Highway as ERMIN GARCIA MEMORIAL HIGHWAY?

I am full of envy in behalf of Ermin Garcia Sr. and his family. Amazing how a very own hero and son of Dagupan City is so neglected yet Quezon City honored him naming a street in his honor in Quezon City although Ermin Garcia Sr. is NOT A SON of Quezon City.

This is very paradoxical. I can’t understand this scenario, Vice-Mayor Belen Fernandez.

Gov. Spin-off lapdog extraordinaire Rafael “Excuses” Baraan’s idea of having a credit line from the Land Bank of the Philippines with a staggering P650M was shot down by the Provincial Board when they realized it’s a hemlock being forced down Pangasinenses throats . . . couldn’t be attained.

The move . . .

The stupendously idiotic Provincial Board opted for Resolution 679-2008 rejecting the plan, but instead went into spiral plunge to perdition.

The afterthought . . .

In lieu, the Provincial Board, with such a resolution authorized Spin-off to negotiate a 7 year term loan with Land Bank putting the uncollected 2001 and 2004 Internal Revenue Allocation funds as collateral.

The counting of eggs . . .

Before they are hatched! The amounts Spin-off thinking to spend-wild amounted to P79, 249,686.00 pesos of which P63, 986,248.00 for 2001 and P15, 263.248.00 for 2004.

These funds are three and eight years old on line. If it were not released by the government for lack of funds, how come the knock-on-wood Provincial Board and the not so bright Spin-off can rely on something so blatantly possible . . . only . . . on paper?

The contrivance . . .

The coyotes at the Land Bank with the likes of Albert Balingit (a board member) devised three roads to die Zerstörung.

1) P11, 321,384 a year starting in 2009. Rejected as too late to lay their hands on.
2) Spin-off and his scalawags will receive a net of P78, 853,437 . . . lump sum . . . minus the stamps.
3) To legalize the IRA allocation with a low rate of 29.91% - if you call that a low rate - with Spin-off receiving P55, 149,856.49 pesos from the IRA distribution.

The Provincial Board went for #2, which the outright availability of monies is highly desired.

The P79M question . . .

The Land Bank of Albert Balingit did not give stipulations how the bank can collect if that dreamed IRA amount wouldn’t come to birthing. Besides this collateral, what Pangasinan is accountable if it becomes deficient?

The Cro-Magnon man . . . Alfie Bince is!

Is the ferry boat of tri-city still a go or no go?

The picture of the Princess of the Star shows it is a monohull ship and it capsized with belly up.

I thought someone said monohull boats or ships are very fast and stable like the aircraft carrier? The aircraft carrier type and size of ship will be in demand now for stability as suggested by someone in the know.

Remember the lengthy discussion about the stability between monohull and catamaran type ferry boats in this forum?
