FIL-CANADIAN JOURNALIST CITED

FIL-CANADIAN JOURNALIST CITED–Journalist Jojo Taduran holds the plaque of recognition and medal from the Philippine Arts and Cultural Experience (PACE) presented to him for the successful staging of the Filipino Making Waves Festival (FMWF) held last August 17-19, 2007 at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto Canada as its executive producer. The festival exhibited the Filipino culture through dance and music.

PNP Region I Director Leopoldo Bataoil and his wife Gina were feted in a get together party hosted by former Pangasinan National High School teacher Mrs. Elderine Castillo and her husband at their residence last September 19. On hand to join them in welcoming the couple were Jose Malogan also a former teacher of same high school, Dr. Fred and Mrs. Myrla Paiso, Don ” Bong” Ventura, new president of the Lingayen Circle of America International and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Panoringan, Larry Galliguez, PPHS class of 1970, Belen Jimenez-Nelson, Lourdes Carino-Devera, and Thelma Aquino-Urbano.

The Bataoil couple was also hosted in Las Vegas by high school classmates, Josephine Sison-Dasmarinas, Virgilio Hilario and sister Tessie Bataoil-Staskus.

The graduates of High School Class 1957 of Pangasinan Institute of Education Arts and Sciences (now San Carlos College) in San Carlos City, held their Golden Anniversary Reunion in Vallejo, CA last August 24-26,  2007.

The graduates, now residing in USA, who attended were Servillano Garcia, (Princeton, West Virginia), Francisca Posadas Rayos (Bolingbrook, Illinois) and Urduja Gonzalez Bulatao (Sparks, Nevada).  California out of Bay Area attendees included Lilia Casillan Aguila of Bellflower and Carmencita de Veyra Magallanes of Glendale.

Dr. Arnulfo S. Rosario, a radiologist from Maryland, has been awarded the “2007 Distinguished Physician of the Year Award” by the Association of the Philippine Physicians in America (APPA).

Two other awards, the Community Service Award and the Apolinario Mabini teaching Award, were handed out to Dr. Ulysses Carvajal, an ophthalmologist and past president of the Philippine Medical Association, now practicing in California, and to Dr. Philbert Jones, a plastic surgeon from Ohio, married to a Filipina, and a frequent missioner to the Philippines, respectively.

JOJO AT 66

AT 66 IS STILL VERY ACTIVE - Jojo Taduran, the veteran print and broadcast journalist, is still very active both in community and journalism activities in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He will be 66 years old on September 26. His friends in the Philippines can send their birthday greetings thru his email: jojotaduran@journalist.com. He is married to Fe Esperanza Bustillos Paca whose father is from Bayambang and mother from Villasis.
