Senior Supt. Isagani Nerez, the provincial police director, is now implementing a stricter deadline policy for solving crimes. All police chiefs have a maximum of three months to solve crimes in their areas of jurisdiction or face removal from their posts.
The police chief in Malasiqui town was recently ordered to step down from his post as several crimes committed in the town continue to remain unsolved.

LIGHT AT LAST—Cabalitian Island, a part of Sual town and a kilometer away from the mainland, is now enjoying power supply through a P20-million submarine cable linked to the coal-fired Sual Power Station. LINGAYEN—The provincial government’s 2,678 regular and casual employees received an unexpected relief with the release of half of their 13th month pay recently.
Provincial Budget Officer Hilaria Claveria said that those who are entitled for the bonus, amounting to over P29 million, were chiefs of offices, rank and file personnel and casual employees assigned in various offices and hospitals under the provincial government.

URDANETA CITY–A 7-million Urdaneta Park will be built soon in honor of Father Andres de Urdaneta, the Spanish Augustinian priest after whom this city was named.
The project, a joint undertaking of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the city government, will cover a 2,000-square meter lot in front of the new city hall.

THE Dagupan Electric Corporation has restored power in Sitio Camanggaan in Mayombo at 4:00 p.m. on June 13 by installing a 100 kilovolt ampere transformer to replace the 75 Kilovolt Ampere (KVA) that was stolen in the aftermath of Typhoon Cosme.
Decorp finally obliged in replacing the lost transformer after six persons were finally identified by the barangay officials and the community as those responsible for the theft.

URDANETA CITY-The continued increase in oil prices has prompted this city’s police authorities to initiate an environment-friendly project: police patrol on bicycles.
P/Supt Rodolfo Castil Jr, city police chief, said the city’s police bike patrol is the station’s contribution to energy conservation given the high cost of oil prices.
