DUE to the massive destruction of public properties in Dagupan, City Mayor Al Fernandez Jr. has already pleaded to the LandBank of the Philippines for a two-year moratorium on the payment of the city government’s outstanding loan.
Pending receipt of the authorization from the city council, Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. said he already relayed the request to LandBank board director Albert Balingit and another top ranking official of the government-owned bank.

LINGAYEN—A memorandum of agreement was signed on Friday by Governor Amado Espino Jr. with representatives of two Independent Power Producers (IPPs) operating in Pangasinan regarding their tax payments due the province.
Espino signed the MOA with officials of the Sual Power Corporation (SPC) and San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) concerning the tax obligations of the two IPPs for the period January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008.

SAN CARLOS CITY–This city, known as the province’s mango capital, has sought the assistance of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in reviving its mango industry following its massive devastation by Typhoon Cosme.
Mayor Julier Resuello said the city government has asked the DA for 50,000 grafted mango seedlings that the city’s producers can immediately replant to maintain the status of San Carlos as having the biggest mango output in Pangasinan.

LINGAYEN-Forty seven students who enlisted for the 20-day summer job with pay under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) went home with pay slips from the provincial government.
All 47 student students were deployed to the different government hospitals in the province for 20 days with a daily wage of P254.

LINGAYEN–With the high cost of rehabilitation work ahead following the extensive damage to agriculture and infrastructure estimated at P4.3 billion brought by Typhoon Cosme, the provincial government is seeking an extension of the loan and a moratorium on the payment of its loans to Land Bank of the Philippines.
The provincial board passed three resolutions last week for authorizing an application for restructuring of the loan and deferment of payment to allow the local government to use the funds instead to finance repairs for damaged structures.

THE Dagupan City Council has asked the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to crack the whip on fraudulent and substandard review schools operating in the city.
A council resolution authored by Councilor Michael Fernandez said no review school operating in the city must be spared from the probe.
The body made the move soon after reviewers of a Northcap Review Center, a local review center here, trooped to the city council during its regular session on Tuesday to seek help after they failed to be included in the list of scheduled examinees for the board examination in June.

THE Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) was hailed by residents and businessmen for fulfilling its promise to restore power in the city’s downtown area on Thursday.
Electricity at the Malimgas Market, city hall, the City Museum and some portions of the central business district was restored at 6:00 p.m. Thursday to the delight of late market goers, vendors, jeepney drivers and others.
The Villaflor Hospital, BHF Mall, Region I Medical Center and Nepo Mall were also among the first to have their power restored.
At 10 p.m that day, it was the turn of CSI the City Mall in Lucao to get its electricity.

But for both services, it can only mean huge daily losses in revenues.
