Sunday Punch has come a long way. I remember it was the first newspaper that I grew up with.
My late father was an avid reader of the paper. I remember every weekend he woke up early in the morning and walked from Pantal (Nable Street) to the magazine store at the side entrance of the former Pantranco beside the old Dagupena and bought the newspaper. It was also the very first newspaper that was always available in our home.
Sunday Punch had also helped me a lot in my grade school when I did my news reports. I remember when my father used to test my reading ability especially when I was in first grade. He would ask me to read a portion of the paper and he was so proud of me.
During those times, we did not have much available books at home and so the weekend newspapers were compiled in his desk. It was the only reading material that was around the house.
There were no television and radio to entertain us so there was much time to concentrate in school because there were no distractions. It was also a newspaper that was affordable for low income people.
I am one of the readers who are so grateful for all the services that the Sunday Punch has done and continuously doing; thanks also to the hardworking and dedicated people who are behind it.
