URDANETA CITY—Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) legends Alvin Patrimonio, Benjie Paras, Jojo Lastimosa, Ronnie Magsanoc, Johnny Abarrientos, and Jerry Codinera led the turnover ceremony of a basketball court dubbed “Court of Inspiration” to the residents of Barangay Mabanogbog here on February 24.
The basketball superstars delighted the locals as they played with them in a friendly match and gave the kids some basic training and exercises to improve their playing skills.
The six PBA legends who are successful businessmen even after their respective careers as basketball players also stressed to the children the value of education alongside their interest in sports.
“Bilang manlalaro..ito po yung binabahagi namin sainyo..na sana ay maging inspirasyon din kami,” said the legends
Elegado Barangay Chairman Arsenio Elegado Sr. thanked his constituents who contributed time and labor for the construction of the court funded by Alaxan.
The legends said the project is their way of giving back to the community as they were once like the kids in the community who used to practice in a village court.
They also saluted the workers who voluntarily devoted long hours of labor to build the court in just about three weeks time.
The Court of Inspiration here is the 13th in the country sponsored by Alaxan.
Sheila Roño, Alaxan Brand Manager, said the project just came from the idea that “we want more people to experience the message of Alaxan, which is about changing the minds of people regarding pain, and what better way to do that than to engage the community in a program like they all build a court together for three weeks and afterwards, they experience the benefits of all their hard work, of all their pains.”–Johanne R.
