SPECIAL TASK GROUP HOLDS COMMAND CONFERENCE
LINGAYEN—The chiefs of police in the 44 towns and four cities of Pangasinan were called to a command conference last Tuesday by the Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOTG) headed by Senior Supt. Jonathan Ferdinand Miano to discuss the implementation of Secure and Fair Election (SAFE) 2013.
Miano said the conference was called to address the problems encountered by policemen so far, particularly the 17 shooting incidents recorded in the province since the start of the election period last January 13 when the gun ban took effect.
“We are doing this to inform the policemen in the province of the issues here and also to gather information from them and from the citizens that will aid us,” Miano said.
Miano noted that the shooting incidents were not all election-related but he nonetheless stressed that their goal is to have a zero crime record.
He said his unit is looking into the statistics and the numbers will be used to gauge the success or failure of the implementation of the law and to measure the performance of the police chiefs.
Miano also gave assurance that the police will aim to solve all these 17 cases, whether election-related or not.
“We will be conducting performance audit every month until we reach our goal in making this election the safest one,” Miano said. (Hilda M. Austria)
