Tarlac councilor shot dead in Rosales cockpit

ROSALES–The incumbent president of the Liga ng mga Barangay and ex-officio councilor of San Manuel, Tarlac was gunned down by a still unidentified gunman Wednesday night in barangay Carmen West here.

Police identified the fatality as Dario Tabugan of barangay Salcedo, San Manuel, Tarlac.

Initial investigation indicates that the victim just came out from a cockpit arena and while about to drive off in his vehicle, a gunman appeared by his side and shot him several times.

It was reported that a son of the victim who was about 20 meters from the scene saw the fleeing suspect whom he described as medium built, sporting flat top haircut, and was wearing maong short pants and white t-shirt.

The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and was rushed to the Polymedic and Trauma Hospital in Villasis town but was declared dead on arrival.

Six spent shells and four deformed slugs of Cal.45 bullets and a holster were recovered from the crime scene.

The motive behind the shooting is yet to be established as local police is still conducting investigation on the case.—CSR
