Now we should all request the governor to proceed with his airport project just in case all these politicians need to escape to Hong Kong from Lingayen. It might really be getting hot if his original support had changed. Wonder if it is a blessing?

Should we all pray now that we finally could help get rid of them? Or should we be more suspicious of witnesses being spirited out of the country. Do we see rendition Philippine style here?

Any guidance here, Mr. Oriel?

Years ago during the time when GMA was still wearing pampers, government buildings were torched to hide crooked deals. A case in point; the old Manila International Airport. The practice is still used today, BIR and COMELEC record sections’ most recent incidents come to mind. Local officials, too, find the method useful whenever SOP’s are needed hence - new public market or city halls.

Today, the method has changed. Rather than torching buildings, all they need to do is report documents are missing! Official documents covering NBN ZTE scam, North & South Train Projects and Spratly Islands’ sellout all involving millions, are missing.

I worry that if investigating bodies pursue the matter to the fullest, we may wake up one morning with the news of Malacanang burned down for faulty wiring!

Heck, why worry about a kickback of US$130 million? The economy is doing well and there is only one person among 90 million Filipinos who can lead the ‘meeks’ to the enchanted kingdom of Xena Mekeni warrior!

Watching the abundance of defensive and illogical mechanisms applied by Mr. Oriel in his futile efforts to justify himself is an affront.

And the constant efforts of Ms. Ric’s, Mr. Carrera’s and Mr. Ceralde’s to goad him into accepting the truth falls into deaf ears like riding an old horse past his prime.

Cognitive dissonance . . . .

It is a fancy term for what often happens when what you perceived contradicts what you believed. It explains why people - like Mr. Oriel - who are confronted with evidence proving them wrong will, instead of being inspired to re-evaluate their opinions, cling to their errors all the more tightly as a way of warding of the threat.

That’s why it’s noticeable for Mr. Oriel to quote the Bible and quotes from great personas as means of refuge when his back is pushed against the wall.

The hollow and lengthy argumentative discourse Mr. Oriel fires back attest to that.

By now the forum readers must have read a lot of Mr .Oriel’s  series of solutions to all problems plaguing the Philippines.

We must congratulate him for his dedication to insist on his opinions no matter how outlandish they may be.

I am still waiting for him to tell me where in the world he can find the “maze of underwater bridges” like the one proposed for the Hundred Islands in Alaminos.

Rafael L. Oriel, Jr.

At last, somebody had said it in the forum, “A prosperous country is built by the contributions of its people.” Is our beloved country prosperous? Why and why not? What have we contributed so far in the building of our beloved country? Are we contributing for its construction or destruction?

For sure, different people have contributed differently. Those who devotedly watched the happenings had certainly noticed that there are those who contributed solutions to the problems plaguing the country and there are those who became part of the problems instead.

There are those who are joining protest rallies but totally have no idea what they are fighting for. Mayroong sigaw ng sigaw pero di naman alam kung iyong isinisigaw nila ay nakakabuti sa bansa at mamamayan.

In contrast, there are those who are just silently doing what they think is right and fighting against the evil in their own simple ways.

There are those who are doing something good but they are the one being demolished or destroyed.

There are those who feel strongly that they are telling the truth but in reality, they are good only in calling names, making malicious allegations without solid proof, misleading other people by giving twisted opinions or twisting the opinions of others and/or putting down and shaming the whole country and its people by shouting to the world critically destructive surveys. They conveniently ignored the fact that it is unfair to the majority of people who are law-abiding citizens.

There are those who said, “We must change and/or improve the system.” Why are we not doing it then?

There are those who said, “There is nothing wrong with the system.” Why are we complaining then when everything remains the same or getting worse?

There are those who said, “It is not the system. The problem is the people.” Why don’t we change the people then? We can start in our own self by doing more good than harm rather than doing more harm than good, di ba?

Just a reminder for those who are doing nothing. Albert Einstein said, “The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth”.

I wonder, how long has this been “written”? Does anyone know? And if it’s been around for a very long time, then I guess my next question would be, who are these “meeks” who’ve inherited the earth? Where are they?

And if no one can readily admit to being a “meek” out there, then how long do we have to be “meeks” before we can inherit the earth? What else do we have to do as “meeks” so that our-great-great-great grandchildren have a chance of inheriting the earth?

“Definitely, meekness will solve the problems plaguing the country.” By all means, enlighten us, Mr. Oriel.

And, please don’t quote the bible. Tell us in your own words what do the 90 million Filipinos have to do to show “meekness” so that we can all help solve the problems plaguing the country.
