Mae has had this wound since grade school. It should have scarred through the years. It should have healed. It did not.
It is one of those wounds that pierce through thin skin, stab through the heart, and stay there to root or to rot. It is more than mere pin of a pain; it is a knife, a sword.

DESPITE FERNANDEZ’ INITIATIVE
Despite the new initiative by the Dagupan City government to recover the 30-hectare land it bought in barangay Awai, San Jacinto at an overprice of P16 million, the property might as well be considered lost forever.
The status of the land, which has already been placed under the administrative compulsory coverage of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), will unlikely change as the new initiative is deemed similar to one that was belatedly undertaken by the Lim administration.

MALASIQUI–The 3rd District’s newly-elected barangay officials, who will assume their posts December 1, took their oath of office Thursday before President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the residence of Representative Rachel Arenas
Arroyo gave the estimated 2,000 barangay officials a short message and was loudly applauded when she greeted them in the Pangasinan dialect, saying, “Congratulations ed sikayon amin (Congratulations to all of you).”

ROSALES –Pangasinan 6th District Representative Conrado Estrella III had coffee with the late Basilan Representative Wahab Akbar just a couple of hours before his unexpected and violent death.
Estrella, in a telephone interview with The PUNCH, said he did not notice or feel any premonition during their conversation that Akbar would die that night from a bomb explosion outside the entrance lobby of the Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City Tuesday night.

THE city government has asked the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to extend the deadline for the closure of the open dumpsite in Bonuan as it admitted the city does not have the luxury of space where it can build its sanitary landfill.
City Waste Management Officer Reginaldo Ubando said this was the response of the local government to the DENR, which required the city to submit a safe closure plan on the city’s existing dumpsite within 10 days starting two weeks ago.

SAN CARLOS CITY–The city again honored its most eminent son on November 13.
San Carlos City was the birth place and final resting place of Speaker Eugenio Padlan Perez, or “Manong Eniong” as he was fondly called.
And in his honor, Pangasinan Day is fittingly celebrated annually on his birth anniversary, November 13, by virtue of Republic Act Number 6721 signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino on March 20, 1989.

A belen-making contest, designed to add glitter to the 2007 Dagupan City Fiesta and the yuletide season, was launched Tuesday with the support of the 31 barangays in the city.
Belen, the Filipino term for Bethlehem, refers to the depiction of the nativity scene when Jesus Christ was born in a manger.
Belen is also the first name of Vice Mayor Fernandez who is bankrolling the contest.

About 50 church leaders and lawyers assembled at a conference Saturday in Urdaneta City to draw up a campaign and action plan in response to what they deem as a deteriorating human rights and peace situation in the country, with special focus on Central Luzon.
The output from the conference, dubbed as Church and Lawyers Peacemakers Conference (CLPC), is particularly aimed at helping the poor who are victims of basic human rights violations, according to Sr. Cecille C. Ruiz, co-convenor of the CLPC.

THE PLANNED DEMOLITION of illegal fish pens in Dagupan City is now just awaiting the go-signal of Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr.
City Agriculture Officer Emma Molina said there are 20 illegal fish pens situated in various rivers here that have already been identified for demolition following three notices issued to the owners ordering them to voluntarily tear down the structures.
