Pangasinan PNP goes green

LINGAYEN—Some 1,000 mahogany seedlings were planted at the compound of the Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial headquarters here Thursday as a “manifestation of love for Mother Earth”.

Tree planting will also be scheduled in the province’s municipal and city police stations.

The activity was a joint undertaking among the PNP provincial office headed by Sr. Supt. Isagani Nerez, police provincial director, the provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) and students and personnel of the Lyceum Northwestern University.

Prior to the tree planting activity, a memorandum of agreement was signed by Nerez with Romeo Pernia, PENRO senior forest management specialist, and Rogelio de Vera, coordinator for external affairs of LNU.

De Vera said LNU is supportive of tree planting activities of the various sectors of society as part of their commitment to fight global warming.

For his part, Pernia thanked the PNP and LNU for the initiative, saying, “We need the help of all sectors in this kind of undertaking.”—CSR
