ANTI-DENGUE—School children of Carael Elementary School gather for the ongoing “Iwas Dengue” program of Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez with help from Johnson and Sons, maker of Baygon, a pest control chemical. A total of 1,120 houses and three elementary schools in Dagupan have so far benefited from the program.

Kudos to Elsa Santillan and Mayor Fernandez for their plan to set up a center for troubled and at risk children.

The future of any country is its children. If only one child out of a hundred is put in the right direction, then the program will have been a success. These unfortunate children need a chance and hopefully this program will give it to them.

My only hope is that the politicos properly fund the program and give it a chance to succeed.

NEW LINK—The  earthquake-damaged Calvo bridge, the only link between Bayambang and Bautista towns, will soon be replaced with an entirely new structure by the Department of  Public Works and Highways through the initiative of Rep. Rachel Arenas. (Punchphoto by Cesar Ramirez)

CHAMPION TEAM—Members of the victorious University of Luzon Basketball team, representing Dagupan City, after winning the 3rd Lauro B. Tacbas Invitational Basketball Championships at the University of Northern Philippines gym in Vigan City from August 16-18. With them is head coach Renato ‘Jackal’ Vidal, assistant coach Jeffrey Gatchalian, Ronald Padilla and Seato Gonimil. Team Manager is Councilor Chito Samson.

Both of you Messrs. Ceralde and Pontaoe have a very good point. There is no such thing as privacy anymore from anyone since the internet was introduced to the rest of the world.

As a follow-up on Mr. Pontaoe’s comment there is a saying, “I love my country (USA) but I fear my government”. Yes, being brief and to the point is the best approach instead of impressing people with BS.

Also, the “I’s and MY’s” are seldom mentioned unlike some other posters who love to smell their own.
