Ms. Visperas,

It’s not goodbye, instead good luck and I hope to see your name on a national paper soon.

It is sad to see one of your best columnist and kabaleyan Ms. Eva Visperas leaving.

I would like say… Eva you are one of my favorite writers in this paper. I never missed reading your column each week.

Good Luck and wish you success in your new endeavor.

The analogy of “Realizing America” and “Realizing Alaminos’ 20-yr. Plan” baffles my mind, so can I try another analogy instead?

Gentlemen, have you ever dreamed of remodeling your bathroom? You have a ten thousand budget to build a bathroom of your dreams, so off you went to buy the grandest throne you’ve ever set your eyes on, marble flooring, Jacuzzi tub, the works. You start working on this dream bathroom and before you know it, you run out of money for, of all things, the right mortar to anchor your tub, your throne, your floor.

You can do one of three things: abandon the project, buy substandard mortar and pray it’ll do the job, or get in more debt. Chances are, you’ll do two of those things and still NOT complete the project.

I realize this analogy is as faulty as the one about the making of America. I also realize that there isn’t anything wrong with dreaming the possibilities, BUT at what price and to what extent?

The probability of realizing that dream has to be considered, analyzed, BUDGETED not just for the first stage of the project but for the entire, long haul.

Mr. Edwin Farias:

It’s not the dream . . . the vision, Mr. Farias, it’s the reality.

Taking the signers of the Declaration of Independence of the United States as dreamers, you’re on the wrong side of history. When they signed their lives and fortunes, they faced reality (not a dream) of getting defeated and hanged for treason. America became independent not of a dream, but because of reality borne out of necessity. Read on, Mr. Farias.

One more thing, Edwin. The Theory of Special Relativity came out of Einstein’s genius sans dreaming that out of it . . . the atomic bomb. The reality of the thing.

The international airport envisioned by Hernani “Aniani” BRAG-anza”, is illusionary his braggadocio would allow. It cannot be done.

Let me guide you thru the minutiae of BRAG-ganza’s mental cadence. Months before the election, he disavowed any connection with the Arroyo government as corrupt and rudderless and foregoes running for mayor . . . again. It was childish tantrum, an intimidation Arroyo couldn’t afford.

Why did he change his mind? Being a civilian and out the Arroyo ballgame there’s no money to be made.

According to my impeccable rat, he was offered an offer he cannot refuse. One on the platter is this P700M international airport BRAG-anza was dreaming about and shoved down everybody’s throat.

And the only way he can put his hands in the kitty, is run for mayor the Arroyo way. Brilliant!

Is it financially believable, that a piddly P700M is enough for an international airport? You have to be kidding. It was an amount to sooth his ego and Fidel Ramos riding shotgun . . . the possibilities are limitless . . . with the bruised prides of Espin-off and Velasco of Santa Barbara.

Your words, “Where money flows, industry grows”. Yes, siree, “Where money flows, the industry of corruption grows”.

Get real. No dreams, Mr. Farias.
