Pangasinan was a kingdom

On the contrary, Mr. Delfin’s post on the 17th was not true to form and substance and could not be absolutely right.

In the first place, he did not say there were no kings of Pangasinan. What he said exactly was there is no such king in the Philippines.

According to history, there were such kings in the Philippines. We learned from history that before the Spanish came to the country, kings and princesses ruled Philippines especially in Mindanao and including Pangasinan.

It has been said that the last known king to rule Pangasinan was King Kasikis. The seat of his kingdom was believed to have been located in an area now known as San Carlos City.

Andres Malong wanted to restore the old Pangasinan kingdom. He proclaimed himself king after leading a rebellion against the Spaniards.
