International Airport in Santa Barbara? Who’s' kidding who?
Velasco's idea of having a facility in such a small town with no industries, not enough lost souls as passengers in the surrounding areas, and flood-prone area at that, looks like an Awai scandal in the making.
With Macapagal Airport at Dau at a short distance as the crow flies, is it economically prudent to establish one that will be born out in conflict? Most economists in their right minds wouldn't think so.
Let's check into this. This land, Hacienda delos Reyes of around 500 hectares is not enough for an endeavor as complicated as an airport. At this acreage, runways alone cannot be built if the length is not sufficient to accommodate an international flight of 747's, 777's or 787's.
If the government buys the land once a cooked confirmary study is approved, who would be holding an empty bag? Because for sure, this could be a Goliath of a money deal, that would put all the scandals in Pangasinan and Dagupan pale in comparison.
The fundamental reason on establishment is what foreign carriers will support? Who will anchor the operations? The landing and take-off fees and rental of the terminals is paramount to a successful airport, which this razzle-dazzle of an idea Santa Barbara cannot provide.
Are Velasco and Espin-off . . . a tandem of police brains not commercial or economic . . . expecting aliens from Mars on vacation and carriers from Venus?
The perception of Velasco as the giant killer who will battle corruption in Santa Barbara, is wishful. Rumors are abundant his 10 points agenda is staged for the gullible Santa Barbara voter. Nothing moves in town.
The ballyhooed, " Balon Politica Aliguas Santa Barbara" is becoming a tease. Jueteng is so profitable, that them who calls the shots are pulling P25,000 per day. That's P750,000 a month. Lots of grease to grease everybody's hand.
And the Ombudsman promised to be snooping around is nowhere to be found. Last seen he was, " Tangaytangay ed Pozorrubio".
Promise everything deliver nothing!
