Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza’s Computer Assistance Literacy Program hopefully involves more funding than mere computers in the classroom. There’s a lot of hidden cost to wireless information connection.
Although most kids nowadays are more computer savvy than adults, the teachers whose classrooms these computers will be in need a lot of hands-on training. And let’s face it, the older the teachers are, the harder for them to adapt to newer technology.
Within a school, there should also be a certified technician on board to troubleshoot any problems adults and students alike can get into. These trained professionals do not come cheap.
Next, comes the software, and we all know these almost become obsolete the minute they are released to the public.
Kudos to Mayor Braganza for attempting to connect the barrios to the information highway, and my sincerest commendation if and when his financial planners actually planned ahead.
