Well, you're right this time around. The authors of the book are Lederer and Burdick. Englund was the producer and director. The movie was made in 1963.
Before you jump to conclusions and enjoy, check first with Ermin Garcia. Why I did it? The ball is in your hands. So, what I did, a methodical person like me, is send Ermin Garcia an email for correction on that part of my post. My email was sent to Ermin Garcia on April 20th at 10:44AM.

Dear Ermin,

Will you please make some changes in my last post. The authors of The Ugly American, are William J. Lederer and Eugene Burdick not George Englund. Englund was the producer and director of the movie. The movie was made in 1963.
