The Sunday Punch is a newspaper that can butt heads with anybody in the business. I mean locally and nationally. It's a heads-on… damn the torpedoes… no holds barred… straight in the eye kind of journalism. That's what makes The Punch fascinating.

The subtlety of delivery is a force to be reckoned with. Sometimes people reacted passionately to what The Punch prints but as everybody knew it's the last breath of life for anybody on the dark side.

Case in point. Remember the Tondaligan Park scandal? When The Gonz exposed it, VM Alvin Fernandez went all the way to high heavens to deny the undeniable but what followed was a coup of journalistic reporting. The slew of mind boggling scandals; the garbage boondoggle at Awai… Malimgas market… the MacAdore hotel… Magsaysay Park… dredging machine… the towing for profit… absenteeism in the Clowncil… the Decorp debacle are known because of pitbull-like tenacity of The Punch under Ermin Garcia. True to form… the first and last defense of what is right. The public is fortunate to have them around.

Hey…Ermin! Float like a butterfly sting like a bee.

(Editor’s reply - sounds like a eulogy but thanks for the bump)
