I have, in the past, lobbied for personal causes, and by this, I mean doing legwork for an organization or a figurehead. I have witnessed endorsements/transactions done mostly behind close doors to keep the anonymity of the parties involved. Never have I seen or read about a blatant financial support through the rafters being handed to specific would-be politicians ON record.

Is it Mr. Jimenez’ wish to undermine the results of the May election by intimidating the opposition with his billions? Dirty politicking doesn’t discriminate. Character assassination doesn’t have borders. And it seems like money laundering is not limited to drug dealers anymore. I hope that Mr. Villar’s, Mr. Fernandez’, and Ms. Arenas’ platforms are made of steel and have the integrity to break away from the magnets they are certain to attract.
