On preventing future incidents

Mr. Gomez, No one thinks the Filipinos are second class citizens. A person is only a second class if he or she thinks so.

As I understand, it in accordance to the Philippine-U.S. pact, LCPL Smith is to be kept under U.S. custody until all appeals are exhausted. Don’t worry, Sir, once Smith is turned over to the Philippine authorities you’ll have your justice. Smith will be lucky if he stays alive for six months under the watch of his Philippine jail keepers for “raping” what many people think was a “loose” woman.

In order to prevent future incidents of this type, it would be wise for the U.S. military authorities not to allow its personnel live in the Philippines. The action of a few bad apples casts a bad light on all the U.S. military and also allows a few Filipinos with a grudge against the U.S. to turn an entire country against the visiting force.

We all know that the country needs an effective cleansing operation. We must not allow our beloved Philippines to become a nation of scoundrels and scalawags. In order to punish and/or rehabilitate all dirty rotten scoundrels and scalawags in the country, I wish that law-abiding citizens and law enforcers will do a nationwide sting operation to catch, prosecute and jail good for those criminals.

As a consolation, let us not forget the fact that a rotten person in our society has a counterpart of millions of people with good hearts because our Beloved Lord Jesus brought our hearts to God and God into our hearts. Just an opinion for everybody to ponder.

Godspeed to all.

Is there such a thing as an absentee ballot in the Philippines? In the US, we can still cast our ballot if we know we won’t be around on Election Day, as long as we’re registered and if we apply within 30-7 days. Who can register to vote in the Philippines? Is there a residency requirement, and for how long, if any? Those who are dual citizens (Phil./US), can they register to vote? I’ve tried going through Phil. consulate in San Francisco. I think it’s easier and faster getting a dual citizenship than getting an answer from this office via e-mail or voice mail.
