Last Jan. 6, I was invited to attend the town fiesta coronation in Lingayen Pangasinan. It was my very first time and it gave me a good impression of the committees who made the occasion a successful one. It was a well attended occasion and people were joyous. I saw cooperation amongst the coordinators. The evening affair was interrupted by a heavy rain for at least an hour. People did not leave instead they waited for the rain to stop and continued the event.

There was a line up of politicians who made their speeches, some of them were sensitive enough and made their talks short. I heard some people behind me who made comments that they will vote for the politicians who talked less. They said that they attended the occasion not to listen to politicians but to enjoy the evening. I whispered to the person next to me that election time is around the corner and that can be expected. I was told that last year was almost the same because it also rained but there were no speeches from the politicians.

Kudos to the Lingayen Mayor and the other officials for a successful fiesta.
