Roses are beautiful to look at but are finicky and high maintenance. You don’t prune them the right way or give them too much or too little fertilizer and you could end up with bushes full of thorns with no flowers to show for it.
Bamboo, now there’s a plant- the homegrown kind, sprouting up from the oddest places. Tenacious, serene, simple, yet its roots run deep. It sways with the gentlest of breeze and bends unbreakable with the stormiest weather.
You’re right Emmanuelle, happiness is not defined by our relationships, but neither do our relations define our happiness. And I have to disagree and go with the popular belief that there is such a thing as amazing as love. No, not that sappy, ogle-eyed, Hollywood kind of thing. But that mutual respect, that mutual awareness, and that mutual understanding kind of thing. Relationships are risky. Most say that opposites attract.
Great if you’re a science project. Play it safe, yet others say. Not too safe, pahabol ko lang. Sometimes it’s easier and safer to say that men are clueless. That the Lancelots and the MacGyvers only exist in Neverland. Perhaps, but how do we know for sure. Like a garden, relationships take tending to. What you get out of it is what you’ve put into it. Plant a rose bush and maybe, just maybe… out comes a bamboo tree.
