At first glance from a thousand miles away, your article on "Tinday Labi" looks promising to raise money for the much talked about city's financial state. But reading this article raises a lot more question for readers like me, what may be clear to those intimately involved in the enterprise who agreed to this only raises a perception that our city council does not fully think through projects like this.

Reading that the city is having second thoughts and wanted a modification of contracts or agreement? Isn't the P50.00 stall fee only a small part of the city revenue and the lion's share is by ad taxes for the goods sold? Overall does the city make money from both revenue source or is this at the detriment to the permanent stores established by the city? Do the night shoppers stay overday (not overnight since they sleep during day and shop at night) in the city hotels for the added revenue. Do out-of-towners go to Dagupan to buy competitive goods during this enterprise. Or is this the same standard goods sold in the Philippines and elsewhere?

When we travel to other countries, our guide takes us to stores that sold unique items that are native to the city. Since this is the only place where we think the goods could be had for a good price we feel good shopping. In fact we stay overnight and spend more money in other services the city had to offer.

It is very important for the city to show to potential investors that our city could manage small and large projects. Showcasing by hosting investors only gets them to be interested but closing the deal is done with convincing information and data. It would greatly help with my official opinion. The good thing is that when I go around, my clients, our kabaleyans, in my capacity as financial consultant, most of them are still bullish in investing in Dagupan. They still hold the dream like me to watch the waves in Bonuan.

It’s just the matter of timing, good corporate governance and good news.
