A Democrat-controlled congress is bad for Pinoys

Recently I wrote about voters in the Philippines voting for the names and not the issues. I guess we have almost the same problems here in the U.S. of A.

During our last election, the Republicans in both houses lost to the Democrats. What annoys me is that a large majority of the Fil-Am voters are registered Democrats. Do these voters know what they voted for? Do they know the consequences of their votes or have they just forgotten about the thousands of Filipinos trying to come to the U.S. Twice a Democrat controlled congress voted for amnesty for illegal immigrants! Twice the waiting list for LEGAL Filipino immigrants was pushed back to where the waiting list is now almost 30 years. Had it not been for a Republican controlled house going against a “RINO” (Republican In Name Only) president that waiting list would have been extended further. The Next Democrat controlled house has already said it was in favor of granting amnesty for the ‘illegals’.

I guess honest Filipinos can forget their dreams of coming to the U.S. legally. Also, the U.S. foreign policy of national defense will undergo severe changes. This could be very harmful to the Philippines. The Democrats want to ‘defund’ the war efforts in Iraq, otherwise, cut and run as the U.S. did in Vietnam.

Millions of Vietnamese died when the Vietcong took over. If we cut and run in Iraq it will be a signal for every terrorist group in the Philippines that the U.S. doesn’t have the stomach to fight. The Philippines will be overrun by every outside funded terrorist group and bombings in Manila will be as common as it is in Baghdad. The U.S. was forced to run from Vietnam when the Vietnam War effort was ‘defunded’ by the Democrats.

Should the Philippines come under terrorist assault, I strongly believe that the coming congress will stand by and do nothing, treaty or no treaty. I pray to God that I am wrong.
