More on the nurses’ exams controversy

Jess Delfin
3 Oct 2006

No matter how anyone would call it,
the last PRC nurses’ board exam is TAINTED. That means, folks, everyone is a suspect.

The only way to regain the credibility back is to fire all of the PRC personnel in charge of the exams is to skin them alive and feed them to the sharks or crocodiles. ALL who had participated on the exams should retake the whole test again at no cost. Why would the PRC not conduct the test like the NCLEX is beyond understanding. It only make sense that since most nurses would like to be employed overseas anyway, the nursing schools should adopt the US nursing curriculum and have the board testing under the same standards as the U.S. demands of its nurses.

As our esteemed Texas nurse Mr. Darius Rayos could attest to, there’s no way that anyone could cheat on the tests. On another note, Mr. Rayos should file a complaint with the Texas Board of Nursing Examiners since his name does not appear on the agency’s online verification.

The Arroyo flip flop on the nurses’ exams is so typical of her. It just shows her incompetence in everything she does. This woman just doesn’t have the credibility of a president. Urong-sulong, anyone? She should just be a Gloria Labandera.

The remark of Mr. Duque that it is un-Filipino to retake the test because the parents of the successful examinees had already celebrated and really spent for it is a crock of bull. We are talking credibility here, Mr. Duque. I for one would not want anyone of these test takers to be my nurse until they had retaken and passed their test. How about you, Mr. Duque?

Another thing that should be taken out is the dumb oath taking ceremonies. Does that make them better nurses? For all I know, there is no requirement of anyone who had passed the NCLEX to take an oath. It’s so Filipino to take an oath of office or profession.

Like the oath these elected officials take before they assume their positions, they really live up to it. Yeah, right!

Tapuy, a disaster waiting to happen?

Eduardo Pontaoe
3 Oct 2006

Mr. Sosimo Pablico:

For the lives of us at the Forum, you did not explain if PhilRice is a private enterprise or a government agency. Because, if it is a government agency you got a lot of explaining to do. How in the world such an entity can indulge in the manufacture of liquor? Well, that’s all for now.

To tell the truth, you are 41 years too late in the exposure of Tapuy. I had a taste of this concoction in Tadiang, Benguet during a “Kamiao” in 1965. The way the folks processed this, is thru fermentation but of the low alcohol content they added shredded tobacco leaves to have a kick which really a bucking horse in a glass. The enormity of its hangover is beyond belief. Three days off your rocker.

What really caught my eyes again are the words METHANOL and STAPHYLOCCUS AUREUS. Methanol…a light pungent volatile flammable poisonous liquid alcohol; used as antifreeze, solvent, or denaturant for ethyl alcohol. In plain words wood alcohol. Staphyloccus aureus… a bacterium that causes furunculosis (characterized by the presence of boils), pyaemia (development of abscesses in the organs), osteomyelitis (inflammation of the bone and bone marrow) and food poisoning.

Your equivocal emphasis this liquid Tapuy does not have these poisonous derivatives is extremely questionable. Why the keen interest in telling people the purity of Tapuy sans the danger of the implications? Is it a disaster waiting to happen, Senor Pablico?

It’s the right thing to do!

Eduardo Pontaoe
3 Oct 2006

Mr. Gringo Sandiego:

GMA’s hesitance in going along with her stalwart supporter Gonzalo Duque on not retaking another nursing exam is based on common sense. She is unsure of the morality of approval when she knew that that exam was tainted and cannot be sanctioned even by presidential decree. Let the chips fall where they may.

Having the adulation of your school and Gonzalo Duque himself and getting pulled down on your butt with a thud is hard to swallow. Your ego is tarnished and everything you worked for is suspect. You should know by now what…a drop of oil would do to a bucket of water. Undrinkable. You cannot have your cake and eat it, too.

Calm down. Don’t get excited. Chill out. If you got nothing to hide, take another exam. It’s the right thing to do. Show to the world your mettle… what you are made off. And if you could do what you did the first time… so much the better… that you Gringo… is made of steel. Fail it or get a mediocre grade will put you into the abyss of shame and the world of Nirvana… the falsity of your existence. You are a goner blown away by the untruth.

Now, your grubstaker Gonzalo Duque is fighting hard to undo what was done. He argued that re-taking the exam is “unFilipino” on the grounds that money was already spent in the celebration of your feat. He also demanded that the students who passed the exam should go on with their lives like nothing happened. It does not get any worse than that. This is what you should do. If you pass the exam with flying colors forego the party, it was done.

To proceed with your life what Gonzalo Duque wanted, tell him to go to hell. Be a man free from the likes of him. And remember… life is a bitch.
