Just swaggering pistoleros

Jess Delfin

Malasiqui shootfest?

Anyone familiar with firearms would know to use both hearing protection and safety glasses when engaged in shooting. Do these swaggering pistoleros know anything about firearms safety? If this photo was staged, they should at least PRETEND to know what they’re doing.

What are we doing abroad?

Raymund Rayos
31 Oct 2006

Good Day,

Then what are we doing abroad then? Myself in Australia and yourself in the US of A… The best minds leaving the country for gold and glory.

The problem is beyond the power of any politician. Just accept the Philippines as it is stinking and all….Love it or leave it…warts and all…

Can the “No kotong” policy be true?

Eduardo Pontaoe
31 Oct 2006

To: Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil,

Having the bragging rights how to implement your agenda is quite impressive. Your admission that lapses in judgment about your predecessors is like an albatross hanging on your neck. Those who preceded you… they are qualified like you do… never been successful or having dented the rampant criminality in that region.

Maybe, addressing this debilitating problem you have something up your sleeve… one of those ancient Chinese secrets? But, be aware that what you are going to face are a bunch of hooligans with ingrained political backing. That’s why your predecessors did not make any inroads, they became helpless in their inutility to confront a metastasis in the application of quick and believable justice. Are you just a sacrificial lamb being put in the grinder to be dispensed summarily when your usefulness is done with?

Now, you are into this pass card system which truckers will have to comply in monitoring their whereabouts. You did not mention how this idea worked at the NPD where you were. Was it viable? The problem is not the pass card… it’s the personnel that manned the checkpoints. How honest these persons in the implementation of protocols? It’s a fact of life experienced by almost everybody, who passes thru these points specifically at night that going thru is to drop down a shakedown and telling you in your face that their breakfast is a few hours away.

To bypass this hitch, if your purpose is to watch the destinations of these errant drivers how about GPS (Global Positioning System). Every driver having this equipment can be easily followed in any which way he is going. Can they afford it? The last time I checked, it will cost every company plying the highways a whopping $699.00 a pop. If you are hardnosed no holds barred kind of enforcer this is the way to go.

You said, ” No “kotong” cops under my watch”. No shakedowns. Is it believable, Jefe? I am reminded of Richard Nixon, the flagrant violator of the law who said to the American people with a flourish, “I am not a crook”.

Yes, save the Franklin Bridge!

Elpidio Bustria
31 Oct 2006

I commend the decision of DPWH to preserve the ruins of Franklin Bridge. Respectfully suggest that the city government clear the place with squatters and clean the area to make it available to the public. The Franklin Bridge is part of Dagupan history. It is for us all to take care of it.

Please lang, give it up!

Edener Benitez Fabella
30 Oct 2006

I wish I could place a collect call to God to implore his infinite understanding and kindness to please come down from heaven and save the Filipinos from this runaway plague disguising as politicians. Some people might tend to describe the plague as ravenous rats but let’s call it for what it is - kleptomaniacs!

Do you ever wonder what it would take short of God himself showing up telling these thieves in government to shape up or burn in hell, to make them finally see the light? Don’t we know the only reason most of these sleezebags are in government is, they could not make it on their own let alone milk private employers? For most of these scums, It’s easier to milk government institutions and so they spend a fortune to get elected knowing their investment will multiply hundred folds in no time they don’t even have to sweat unlike the ‘isang kahig isang tuka’ variety type of Filipinos doting the landscape.

If there is one more thing we Filipinos should be thankful for is our having only two weather seasons. Summer and rainy days thank heavens! Can you imagine our country having winter months? Having this kind of government and leaders who regard social consciousness (or lack thereof) an aberration, mortuaries and cemetery plot owners will have a field day once frozen bodies shows up for roll calls? What a shame really a lovely country such as ours with resilient and hospitable people, it deserves better than these mediocres and errants good only at making lives of so many miserable.

Finally, manong Joe deV, please lang, give it up and see the light for once. Being prime minister of a poor country with burgeoning population that can hardly afford the price of galungong, it is time you and your fellow kissamygloass give the people the much needed break. Our current governing system is one that should work to benefit the people if only you and others will stop from making it not work - let it work - make it work and we will be proud of you and your legacy.
