With all due respect Mr. Villafania, if Noah Webster could be put in question then we got some breathing room to discuss about language or dialect. Allow me to go beyond “mutual intelligibility" which I find fuzzy and unclear. Your premise of dialogue that language and dialect are two distinctive words is tantamount to say that a tiger is not a cat. I will put in a simplest way as possible for everybody to understand.Example: The Banana…. the varieties of bananas comes in diverse herbaceous perennials like the Williams… Valery… Popoulo… Gros Michel… Orinoco… Lady Finger… Cuban Red… Blue Java… Manzana and Cavendish.
In any perspective… in any shape or form… in any angle how you look at it… it would come to the point that all these species of such plant…is a banana. So true to dialect and language. In any spelling you would like to phrase, it is always the knowledge these two words are the same. One and inseparable.
