Let me make some clarification here
Pangasinan is a language and at the same time a dialect. Dialect is the synonym of the word language. LANGUAGE is applied to people or race on a general pattern…. the Tagalog language. DIALECT is applied to varieties of languages, very much so to provincial communities or groups developed even after an standard has been established….. the Pangasinan dialect. (i.e. Tagalog is a dialect of the Tagalog region adapted to become the national language).

DIALECT according to our friend…NOAH WEBSTER 1) A variety of a language that is distinguished from other languages by features of phonology, grammar and vocabulary and used by groups of speakers who are set off from others geographically or socially. 2) A provincial, rural or socially distinct variety of a language that differs from the standard language. 3) A language having a common ancestor like Indo-European dialect or the Malayan dialect where the languages of the Philippine Islands originate.
