Mr. Ceralde, perhaps you are not aware that there are forums where we could celebrate our similarities and keep our differences civil but at the same time we could discuss God, Christianity, Bible and/or anything under the sun. It could be done in an open forum for as long as we can do it in a civilized way. It could be done with an open mind as part of our growth and learning process in life. It is a way of having a highly developed society and culture that can show evidence of moral and intellectual advancement that is highly in contrast with the terrorists’ acts that shocked the civilized world. Learning is a life long process of growing together in our beautiful world.

Learning is a life long process of educating ourselves, knowing what we have in common, understanding our differences and growing together in our beautiful world. It is the main ingredient of our growth and our gateway to freedom from ignorance. What happened to us everyday will become part of our life history that we can use in the future for our soul-searching; a penetrating examination of one’s motives, convictions and attitude. We can rewind our memories to earlier period of our life to search for the solutions to our problems of the day. Reminiscing the past, including ancient days, where we learned from our mistakes as humans can help us become better persons and role models of future generations.

In fact, I am a member and an officer of another forum with that kind of objectives. With information and communication technology, we are hoping that we can break all barriers that alienate us like strangers. By networking through our forum with other Filipinos worldwide who are of different or the same creed, we learn something new everyday.

We already have more than 2000 members worldwide and still growing. We are Filipinos worldwide who have high hopes and dreams for better Philippines. We celebrated our first year anniversary this month. The Cebu Chapter of our organization celebrated our anniversary with a project called, “Plant a Tree of Hope”. They planted hundreds of tree seedlings along the Trancentral Highway in Cebu in the bright morning of August 20, 2006. The highlight of our first year in existence as a group was done last August 4, 2006, when members of our group turned over to Gawad Kalinga staff in Pasig City our contributions for the construction of two houses for two Filipino families.

I hope and pray that we can form in the near future a Pangasinan Chapter of our organization just like the one we have in Cebu. I am proud to say that the Chairman of our Cebu Chapter is a 2006 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Workers of Cebu as well as the region’s nominee for the national award.

I like to encourage my Kabaleyans, most especially the youths, to take advantage of the advancement in technology that gives us modern tools to encourage more people to work together for the improvements of our communities.
