It’s been raining for weeks since I arrived in Dagupan and flooding is all over the place. I am not an engineer but I see that the government could not keep up with the development around the city. How can the city officials entice foreigners to invest in our city? Filthy waters are all over the place. I see so many of our cababayan’s livelihood affected by the situation, school children brave walking through the filthy water, congested traffic in every street, and the level of stress among our cababayans and everyone is high. How can the government officials endure to see this yearly dilemma in our city? Whatever happened to the money collected during the yearly May festival (Bangus Festival)? Those responsible people who can’t account the money should be prosecuted. Sometimes I wonder if these officials even have a conscience. They are heartless and are comparable to the criminals. I sound mean but one with conscience can really feel how the common people in our city are suffering. I pray that someday some politicians will have the heart to help make some good changes in our city but for now all we can do is hope. Come election time, liar politicians will be all over the city lying to the people. They use the money power to get votes. Unfortunately so many of our cababayans do not have the access to reading materials and they mostly depend on a person to person information and so during election time depend on hearsay on which candidate to vote and of course choose the candidates who has the money power. It has been over 30 years since I left Dagupan and I see no change instead I see the worse to the max situation. I wonder if some good changes will ever occur. Like so many of us would always say, we always hope for the best.
