It’s a bird…it’s a duck….it’s Lola Basyang and Edong Mapangarap…oh no! It’s Senex and Pseudolus warbling their song ‘Everybody Ought To Have A Maid’ on Something funny happened on the way to the Forum!Isn’t it beguiling when just about every supercalifragilistic, superglues and soon to be superannuates of our country’s political halls of shamers raving coming soon supermaids! In the confusion, they seemed to have forgotten asking what really counts the most which is; what do you think OFW’s?
If I am one of many OFW’s soon to be trumpeted around the globe as WOW Philippines Supermaids, I have serious questions needing clarifications from promoters with superegos.
First I say - the mere fact we ladies are ready to lay down ourselves to labyrinths and myriad of challenges that forces us to face the gauntlets alone, mortgaging our family’s future and at the same time contributing to the economy thus keeping it afloat is affirmation with punctuation we are indeed - Super ladies! We need no super training. We have the skills, determination and dedication to the profession we signed up for. What we need is support from a government notorious for its scrumptious appetite to abuse wherewithal coming from our aching backs and great disparity.
What we need is a government that is able to promote us to the world as humans not some low end export materials whose welfare is left to the whims of employers. A government that knows exactly where we are it does not need to conduct house to house search during time of emergencies. A government that is skillful in coalescing with governments of offending employers in obtaining justice for those of us returning home in wooden boxes or in crutches.
We are doing our share. The bigger question is, how about you master government that we help keep afloat, can we count on you? The editorial fits and we agree. Let’s limit rhetoric to a minimum and stop the nonsense.
