Remembering Ermin Sr.

Van S. de Leon
18 July 2006

To the family of the founder and murdered-for-truth Ermin Garcia Sr.,

The legacy of your father is so much alive in all of you who were left behind by a Pangasinan hero of truth defender. I bet you can’t help but feel sad at this moment remembering how the vibrant life of your father was nipped by a murderous bullet. Sunday Punch is your father now and father of Pangasinanenses who love truth. May the good Lord continue to shower the Garcia kids with more strength and courage to continue ‘life’ of your father. Mabuhay kayon sanaagi tan sana-ama tan sana-ina. You have chosen to dedicate your lives to the Filipino people-the Pangasianenses in particular. You are all very exceptional Pangasinenses, Model Pangasinenses. Again, mabuhay kayon amin and your staff members. May the Provincial Government realize that there is a need for a resolution to honor your father. I personally suggest here in this message board, to the Provincial Government an “Ermin Garcia Sr. Pangasinan Holiday”. Your father deserves it.

Change the school calendar

Victoria N. Carrera
18 July 2006

We see the effect of rainy season in our country. People really suffer especially the children. It really makes sense to change the school calendar since rainy season usually starts in June all the way to August. Just last week, schools closed their doors due to flooding in. Children are openly exposed to diseases during these months too. Some jobs are affected by the bad weather, therefore, it is a difficult time for some parents to afford their children to go to school. I commend Mr. Manuel Villar for his sensitivity for the people and the children regarding this issue. There are more benefits if the school calendar begins in September. U.S. school calendar begins in August-September. One of the reasons too is the weather. If the school calendar begins in September, foreign students coming from other counties like the United States will not have the difficulty adjusting because their school calendar will almost coincide with the Philippines. I am sure that the Philippines have thousands of foreign students and there are thousands more who are coming. They will be elated if the school calendar will be changed.
