I am one of many Dagupenos now residing in the United States and i am only able to get my “local” news from this website. Congratulations! I however sometimes wonder why you are so critical of the city we call home. I understand your obligation to be responsible journalists, but as a Dagupeno living abroad, it would be nice to read more about the positive changes our city has undergone in the last 7 years (I haven’t had the chance to visit since 1999). I do not object to the criticism this newspaper hurls at the city’s bigwigs and politicians, but maybe if we talked less and acted more, we can contribute more to our beloved city.
Punchline: We are not critical of city and Dagupenos, just of governance and unabated corrupt practices of officials. The last time we weren't looking, the Lim administration bought a land in San Jacinto 6 years ago ostensibly for a sanitary landfill, for P9 million more than market value. Today, the city still has no sanitary landfill, still operates the dumpsite. That's only of the many "positive changes" that went kaput, at the expense of Dagupenos. There would have been more of this kind if the officials acted more and we had talked less. Nonetheless, we do have more of the 'positive changes' as news items.
