To all Our Kababayans Overseas:

Ms. Ukuya’s dilemma about her missing money through the mail is not an unusual occurrence in our country or any country. It can happen anywhere. There are many ways to send money to our relatives in the Philippines. We can remit it through the banks, purchase money orders, etc. It is also risky to send it through someone. Just recently, a relative of ours from New Jersey sent some amount ($5,000) of money through their so called (trusted family friend) who went on vacation to the Phil. Unfortunately, the money did not reach her family. The person went straight to casino and gambled. This person was known to them since their childhood. Like what my mom always told me, “you can measure a persons worth through money”. Although, there is a fee when we remit through the banks, it ensures the safety of our money and will surely be received by the recipient. We really work hard to earn a living for ourselves and to help our extended families and other people. Let’s not give these thieves the opportunity to steal from us.
