I wonder if the upper chamber is solely to be blamed for the nation’s woes. I am sure, notwithstanding these ballyhooed bills enacted by the lower chamber, there must be a reason why some failed to make it. Past bills such as the ‘bridges to nowhere’ which did nothing but fatten up some fabulous bank accounts even more is still fresh in the minds of many poor taxpaying suckers of this country. Apart from bills renaming streets, avenues and the likes that really do not address critical areas affecting millions of Filipinos, why hasn’t their pork barrel loot improved their lot? We cannot even eradicate dengue and other afflictions that are no longer common in many countries. Our leaders are high fiving each other for our ability to compete in the outsourcing business and for conquering Mt. Everest never mind if we are now confused on who got there first. However, these so called leaders are eerily silent on the issue of students needing umbrellas inside classrooms due to leaky roofs? Why is it so easy for our law enforcers to bash heads of those protesting policies of it’s leaders and yet are ever so slow in apprehending real criminals. Fact is, if the present administration is hellbent in it’s “All or nothing” ways and shoving down Filipino’s throats its caprices with total abandon, it can save a whole lot more money by just declaring martial law.
