The news about the net revenue from last year’s Dagupan Fiesta that was disclosed by Mr. Alex de Venecia is a big sum of money. Raising funds for the good of the city and its people is admirable. However, the people involved should present to the public a clear purpose of the event. A financial report should be published through the media for transparences. What the people would like to see is, for the committee to inform everyone as to where and how the net revenue will be used for. Will the money benefit the people of Dagupan City or just a few? I am in support of such endeavor (raising funds) provided there is a clear purpose as to where the money will be used for. Not just raising funds where only a few will benefit. Let us remember that the revenue collected from any fundraising comes from people and a proper accounting is in order regardless of the amount.
