I agree with Ermin when it comes to the pro STL crusade of Vice Gov Lambino. He should give up this belief that STL is the answer to stop jueteng. Based on experience, STL can not and will never stand by itself. Now that STL is only being proposed, jueteng is already surfing with it. How much more if it was legalized. Can the police or politicians differentiate what is STL and jueteng? If law enforcers like the PNP including mayors had difficulty in implementing simple directive against illegal gambling like jueteng, how much more if it is a mixture of STL and jueteng. Adding STL to the equation will complicate the situation and will make things worst. Maybe Filipinos are not yet ready to legalize jueteng in the form of STL. If law enforcers and politicians like the Vice Governor will have the political will then legalizing jueteng in the form of STL will work. But for now, I could not see the virtue of political will among our politicians. I wish they have.
By the way, jueteng is already present in our hometown Malasiqui in the last 4 days. I hope the good Vice Governor can suggest something on this matter aside from legalizing STL.
