Re: Mayor Lim’s threat

To: Mr. Ermin Garcia, Jr.: Let me commend you for your courage to stand up to politicians, namely Mr. Lim, who try to bully the Free Press. His remarks and threats to your staff are self-serving, coming only from a person who is drunk in power and had appeared to have forgotten that he is a PUBLIC SERVANT AND THAT MEANS SERVING DAGUPAN in many ways more than one. Let me piggyback with Mr. Pontaoe: GIVE HIM HELL!

To: Mayor Lim:
May I remind you that as a mayor, and as decent human being, you are supposed to act in a civilized manner? You can not go about threatening anyone who try to speak (or print) the truth. May I also point out to you that you are a public servant and it’s ONLY A PRIVILEGE for you to serve the people of Dagupan. Yes, Mr. Mayor, serve all the people of Dagupan and not just the people who voted for you.

The pollution of waters around Dagupan indeed is a serious problem and has to be addressed immediately or else the much touted Dagupan bangus will be history. Mind you, anyone who has been to Dagupan can see that the bangus industry (and fishing industry as a whole) need serious environmental changes. In this case, Mr. Mayor, you are in the position to effect the necessary changes. I know that you would rather have your bangus raised in a clean, healthy environment rather than in those polluted waters.

Mr. Ermin Garcia Jr. had indicated that you have space in the Punch to explain yourself. The readers await your response.
