Mr. Al Mendoza:

Politics, as you described it, is reality. Politics for all intents and purposes, is perception.

The bishop’s archaic views

Eduardo Pontaoe

30 Mar 2006

It came to mind that the good old Bishop Cruz has his doubts and adamantly opposed to any form of gambling in Pangasinan.

He has his personal reasons, but this plan of creating jobs and establishing a source of revenue is beyond personality concerns. The Bishop’s reasoning of his non-conforming position is archaic and ought to be put on the side and move on.

There is another option where we can utilize his energy and wisdom. Why not make him the chairman of the gaming board if there is one? I think this is an offer he could not refuse.

Pangasinan is better off with the Bishop inside pissing outside than outside pissing inside.

Agbayani’s bleeding heart

Eduardo Pontaoe

30 Mar 2006

On Business Log:

Changing horses in the middle of a stream is not a setback but an extreme necessity when those horses cannot pull the load.

Agbayani’s bleeding heart is a show of face to soften the blow for a cashiered bureaucrat, if not a derelict but an incompetent one.

Look at Urdaneta, Alcala and Bautista where all the hefes are out. Did it tell us that something is wrong? Here is a pattern of disservice to the people they tried to serve.

Good riddance, I say!

And to you, Eva Visperas, keep it up.

STL creates jobs

Eduardo Pontaoe

29 Mar 2006

Re: Small Town Lottery sought here

Step in the right direction to create jobs and tax base for the government.

Transparency could only be achieved when these STL’s are controlled by the government not state run.

Let the PSCO manage it in business like atmosphere without the interference of those politicos riding shotgun.

There would be serious doubts about the resurgence of legalized gambling. The problem lies in the first hours of the birthing. With strict controls for compliance, it can be done.

If it can happen in Vegas or Atlantic City and every nooks and crannies of America, the Philippines is not far behind.
