You have a very legitimate concern. As practiced and to my knowledge, the word Pangasinense only denotes the language (dialect) not the people themselves.
This complexity was never addressed until now. I can¹t remember anything written about this part of our heritage.
Every time somebody asked me where I came from I always say, I am from Pangasinan. But, the irony is, if you are from Dagupan you could say, I am Dagupeño.
Is it proper to say; I am Pangasineño? Like Bulaqueño? Pampangeño? Zambaleño?
Let us ask the person who knew more than us. How about it, Sonny Villafania?
