For Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr., to re-evaluate the performance of city employees is a gutsy move.
Retrenchment is a euphemism for downsizing which is absolutely necessary in the city bureaucracy. Non-performance of some employees in a bloated payroll must be cut for efficiency.
Cutting thru the bone is the norm. If Mayor can pull this one off, a leaner and well-oiled machine of an Urdaneta will rise in a new beginning.
Damn the political torpedoes. Full speed ahead, Mr. Mayor
