The purchase of the fire suits thru the exemplary and benevolent gesture of Speaker Joe de Venecia is worth mentioning especially it helps and protect the firefighters in their hazardous job.

What is noticeable if you look closely at these suits is the encasement of the wearer. It is bulky to move around and the periphery of sight is limited which encumbers the wearer to see what is going on around him. These suits are only applicable in oil fires not in building or house fires. At $5000 dollars a crack P250, 000.00 and change it is a huge expenditure which is not suitable in the environment and climate which these suits are intended for.

Was there any feasibility study done before the purchase? It is so easy to empress people on the validity of the project and without the knowledge of the art of firefighting everybody would look stupid when the end result does not match the purpose.

Here in America, firefighters are equipped with suits which allow movement, eyes not covered and not cumbersome to have tools with you such as oxygen tanks and a roll of hose to climb forward. Case in point: Dagupan Fire Dept. is it equipped with enough tools and expertise to fight a five (5) alarm blaze? Does it have a ladder that will reach a 10 or 20 story building?
How's the water supply? With these kind of fire suits that the Speaker is talking about and the amount it cost, it must justify or else it will fall on the wayside like all projects that were started and never finish when the money is gone. Only God knows where it went.
