LINGAYEN-Five police stations in this province have declared their respective towns drug-free in a command conference held last week at the provincial police headquarters here for the second performance audit of various police stations, particularly on drugs.

Senior Supt. Mario Sandiego, police provincial director identified these towns as Agno, Anda, Burgos, Infanta and San Manuel.

However, he said that their declaration which is necessary to be able to subject to validation look into failure or success of the various stations.

He is validating the reports with the mayors, barangay chiefs and non-government organizations.

Sandiego said Pangasinan scored 52 percent overall out of     the 60 per  Cent target accomplishment of  the  drug campaign    nationwide by Camp Crame until September  15.

Supt. Edgar Basbas, deputy provincial director for operations, said  that the towns that met the 60 percent accomplishment target were the following:  Bolinao, Mabini, Sual, Binmaley, Bugallon, Bayambang, Mapandan, Sta. Barbara, Sto. Tomas and Sta. Maria.

Cash incentives from  the Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force under General Edgardo Aglipay are expected to  be given to the successful campaigns. A cash incentive of P5,000 per barangay cleared and P1,000  per drug personality neutralized will be awarded to them.

As of Sept. 15, of the 514 reported drug personalities in Pangasinan,  the police have reportedly neutralized 266.

Seventy nine barangays out of 168 drug-affected barangays remain for clearing until December, Basbas said.

Basbas said he is confident the December target will be met since the accomplishment of police chiefs for the past one month on drugs already jumped by 26 per cent.

“They have learned their lesson because last month I relieved six non-performing police chiefs,” Sandiego said.

Meanwhile, another policeman was found positive of drugs. He is  identified as SPO1 Cesar Sagun of Mangatarem police station who will be due for relief for further investigation at the police regional office.  -ECV
