Big Hawaii delegation coming here next year

LINGAYEN—WATCH out for Pangasinenses dancing the hula for a week when a big delegation from the state of Hawaii arrives in Pangasinan in November next year for the holding of the first-ever “Aloha Week” here.
Exploratory talks for the holding of the “Aloha Week” already began last week with the arrival of a group of Hawaii-based Pangasinenses who talked with their counterparts from Pangasinan.
The Hawaiian group is headed by Burt Garcia, Sr., president of the Pangasinan Council of Hawaii, who expressed his enthusiasm over the many opportunities that can be established between Hawaii and Pangasinan.
His group is the umbrella organization of all other Pangasinan unit organizations in Hawaii which played a major role in the adoption of a resolution in the Hawaiian legislature establishing sister relationship between Hawaii and Pangasinan
The sisterhood agreement was jointly signed by Hawaii Governor Benjamin Cayetano and Pangasinan Governor Victor Agbayani aimed at establishing bilateral ties and eventually to promote mutual economic benefits to Hawaii and Pangasinan.
Governor Cayetano traces his roots to Urdaneta City.
Garcia’s group met with Board Members Juan Llamas Amor and Ariel de Guzman, Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director Jaime Lucas, Provincial Agriculturist Jose Almendares and Provincial Tourism Operations Chief Maila Mendoza.
Amor presented to the group proposed activities that will include business presentation, meetings and rountable discussions on possible partnership[ ventures on real estate/land development, natural resources, development and technology services, actual site visits, travel and tours and cultural exchange.
Officials said the upcoming Hawaiian visit will create new opportunities for cooperation in the areas of trade and investments, agriculture, science and technology, education and cultural exchanges, social and health sewrvices, and tourism.
