Lakas group in bid to regroup

THE LAKAS-NUCD-UMDP will have a major party meeting on Sept. 15 in its bid to strengthen the party as some of its senators and other officials recently shifted party affiliation to the Lapian ng Masang Pilipino (LAMP). Former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., in his capacity as president of LAKAS, told newsmen that he will convene a major party meeting with former President Fidel Ramos and Vice President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to reorganize the party. De Venecia admitted that LAKAS lost control of the Senate and of the House. However, he denied reports that there is an exodus of LAKAS members joining the administration party as majority of the mayors and governors in the country are still overwhelmingly with the LAKAS.
